Cellular Blinds : Principle Features & Benefits

Cellular blinds, also known as honeycomb blinds, are manfactured from layers of fabric folded into a hexagonal (cell-like) structure. Available in a range of colours, cellular blinds offer a sleek, modern look that suits almost any interior style.

High Thermal & Shading Efficiency

Cool in Summer, Warm in Winter

Our cellular blinds use a tactile blackout material on the outside of the honeycomb structure and the internals are lined with a performant aluminium foil.

The result is a very low transmittence of heat and light through the blind.

This makes them an excellent insulator and helps regulate temperature within the campervan or canal boat, keeping you warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

Not only is the heat efficiently blocked or reflected, but the light is too. No more waking at 5am in the summer and being unable to get back to sleep. Blackout blinds allow you to control the light levels.

This energy efficiency makes it cheaper and faster to bring the van or narrowboat to a comfortable temperature, and keep it that way.

Mould / Bend to Shape

Unlike other blind systems, cellular blinds can be moulded to follow the curves of a campervan or narrowboat interior.

No awkward gaps, overlaps, or compromises in the finish.

The result is a cleaner, more professional look that feels fully integrated — more akin to an OEM factory fit than an aftermarket add-on.

Additional Features & Benefits of Cellular Blinds

There are many reasons why cellular / honeycomb blinds are a better choice than the more traditional rollers, shutters or curtains.

Moisture Resistant

Condensation from showers, steam from kettles or the great British weather might cause damp or mould on curtains or other blinds. Not a problem with cellular blinds.

Lightweight

Lightweight and efficient. Cellular blinds are constructed using a lightweight fabric structure that adds insulation without adding unnecessary weight.

Heat & Light Reflective

The cellular fabric’s 70% solar reflectivity and low 30% absorption help reduce heat gain and glare, keeping the interior more comfortable during sunny weather.

Easy to Install

No toolbox tantrums. The finished blinds are really easy to install and require only 4 screws (with really big ones needing 6). You’ll be admiring your handiwork in no time.

Slim Profile

Sleek, subtle, and made to disappear. Say goodbye to the clunky, bulky look of traditional curtains or rollers.

Durable

Built to last. The blinds are made from a durable fabric that doesn't tear, and won't get damaged by the occasional elbow bump.

Frameless

All clean lines, no chunky plastic frames. A minimalist look that is so refined it is sleeker than the OEM finish on purpose built campers.

Easy to Clean

Can be hoovered or dusted, but because our blinds are fully closeable they don't collect much dust in the first place. Low maintenance.

Quality that lasts

Our principle production considerations are quality and longevity. We want your blinds to last and look good for many years to come, so all the components and materials are the very best available.

Our Quality Assurance ensures that every blind which leaves our factory are flawless and made exactly to the size ordered.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What are cellular blinds and how do they work?

Cellular (or honeycomb) blinds are made from layers of fabric that form air pockets — or “cells.” These cells trap air, helping regulate room temperature and improve energy efficiency.

Do cellular blinds really help with insulation?

Yes. The honeycomb structure acts like a thermal barrier, keeping heat in during winter and blocking it out in summer — reducing the cost of heating your campervan or narrowboat, and keeping the living space at a comfortable temperature.

Can cellular blinds be used in humid areas like the van kitchenette?

Absolutely. Moisture-resistant cellular fabrics are designed to handle humidity without warping or fading, making them ideal even if they are near a sink or kettle.

Are cellular blinds safe for children and pets?

Yes. Providing the installation instructions have been adhered to the cords within the blinds are under tension, making them a child-safe option. We have a dedicated page in relation to product safety.

We adhere to the latest safety guidelines and ensure that the blinds meet current British safety regulations, BS EN 1310.

Window blind cords, must be kept out of reach of babies and children to avoid the risk of strangulation and entanglement. Make sure cords are kept under tension and any loose excess to be cut to within 80mm.

How do I clean cellular blinds?

Most cellular blinds can be easily maintained with a quick vacuum using a brush attachment or a light wipe with a damp cloth. No special products required.

Can I install cellular blinds myself?

Definitely. They’re designed for easy, DIY-friendly installation — with simple brackets and minimal tools. You’ll have them up in no time.
